How It Works
Our Process
Building a custom pool is a major investment, but it should never be stressful. Here is exactly how we take your project from a first conversation to your first swim, with clear communication at every phase.

Step 01
Design Consultation
Every Lucent pool begins with a free, no-pressure consultation at your home. We walk the yard with you to study the things that shape a great design: grade and drainage, sun and shade through the day, sight lines from inside the house, existing landscaping, and how your family actually wants to live outdoors.
Just as important, we listen. Whether you picture quiet morning laps, a resort-style space for entertaining, or a safe shallow area for young kids, this conversation is where your vision and a realistic budget come together so the rest of the process stays on track.

Step 02
Custom 3D Design
Next, our designers translate that vision into a photorealistic 3D rendering of your backyard. You see the pool, decking, water features, lighting, and landscaping in context before a single shovel hits the ground.
This is a collaborative phase, and it moves at your pace. We refine shapes, finishes, and features together until the design is exactly right. Seeing it in 3D removes the guesswork and makes sure the finished pool matches what you imagined.

Step 03
Transparent Proposal and Estimate
Once the design is approved, we prepare a detailed, line-item proposal. You see exactly what is included, from the structural shell to the finish, equipment, tile, coping, and decking, with no vague allowances and no surprises later.
We would rather have an honest conversation about scope and budget up front than cut a corner you cannot see. This is also where you lock in your finish, color, and feature selections so production can move smoothly.

Step 04
Structural Planning and Permitting
North Texas sits on expansive clay soil that swells and shrinks with the seasons, so every Lucent pool is planned with that ground in mind. We build a structurally sound shell with steel, footings, and details suited to your site. When a project calls for it, we bring in a licensed structural engineer for a stamped design, but that is handled case by case rather than on every build.
We then handle the paperwork most homeowners dread: city permits, inspections, and HOA approvals. Permit timelines vary across the Metroplex and are often the biggest variable in the schedule, so we start early and keep you informed at each step.

Step 05
Excavation, Steel, and Gunite
Construction begins with layout and excavation, when the shape of your pool is carved into the yard. Next comes the steel rebar framework along with the plumbing and electrical rough-in that will run your equipment and features.
Then we shoot the gunite shell, the same engineered, sprayed-concrete method that lets us build in any shape, depth, or size. Gunite is the only construction method we use, because nothing else matches its strength and design freedom in our climate. After it is applied, the shell is given the time it needs to cure properly, a step we never rush.

Step 06
Tile, Decking, Finishes, and Equipment
With the shell cured, your pool comes to life. We set waterline tile and coping, build out your decking, and apply your premium interior finish in pebble, quartz, or polished aggregate for lasting beauty underfoot.
We also install your equipment package: energy-efficient variable-speed pumps, LED color lighting, saltwater or traditional chlorination, and smart automation so you can control everything from your phone. Spas, tanning ledges, and water features are integrated seamlessly.

Step 07
Pool School and Final Walkthrough
Before we hand over your backyard, we fill and balance the water, start up the equipment, and walk you through how everything works in a relaxed pool school session. You will know how to run your pool with confidence from day one.
Then we complete a detailed final walkthrough together to make sure every detail meets our standard and yours. Your build is backed by our lifetime structural warranty, and our team is only a call away long after the first swim.
