Bucket test (homeowner-safe)

1. Place a bucket of pool water on a step; mark water levels inside the bucket and on the pool.

2. Compare the drop over 1–2 days (account for rainfall and splash-out).

3. If the pool drops faster than the bucket, you likely have a leak — call us.

Equipment-pad vs plumbing / structural

Equipment pad: often visible — pump seals, valves, filter tanks, heater fittings, unions.
Plumbing / structural: underground lines, shell, skimmer, light niches, fittings — may need pressure testing, dye testing, or listening tools.

Common issues: won’t ignite; fires then shuts off; runs but won’t heat; flow / pressure faults; control board, ignitor, or flame sensor failures.
System view: heater problems are sometimes pump, filter, or valve flow issues — we diagnose the pad, not only the box.
Chemistry note: unbalanced water (especially low pH) can corrode heat exchangers — related upkeep: pool maintenance.
Repair vs replace: repair often makes sense for ignitor, sensor, board, or flow fixes when the unit is sound; replace when the heat exchanger is failed, repairs stack up, or efficiency no longer justifies repair.

Cartridge

1. Shut down the pump; relieve pressure; open the filter.

2. Remove cartridge(s); rinse thoroughly; inspect for tears or permanent clogging.

3. Replace O-rings/seals if worn; reassemble; restart and check pressure.

4. Replace the cartridge when torn, crushed, or no longer cleaning up.

Sand

1. Backwash per manufacturer guidance when pressure rises.

2. Inspect the multiport / valve and laterals if pressure won’t recover or sand appears in the pool.

3. Media replacement when sand is old, channeled, or ineffective — quote on site (TBD).

DE (diatomaceous earth)

1. Backwash / bump per system type; recharge with the correct DE amount.

2. Inspect grids/fingers for tears (DE returning to the pool usually means grid damage).

3. Grid repair/replace or full clean as needed — quote on site (TBD).
