Pool heat pump repair starts with a diagnosis on site. Heat pumps run on power, not gas, so we check the fan, compressor, sensors, airflow, and water flow, then tell you whether repair or replacement makes sense. Call 817-339-6770 today.

How much does pool heat pump repair cost?

It depends on what the diagnostic finds. Pool heat pump repair is priced after diagnosis, and you get the price before any work starts. See our pool repair rates. The service call fee goes toward the labor for your repair. You only pay the service call if you decide not to go ahead with the repair. Call 817-339-6770.

Why is my pool heat pump running but not heating?

When the heater runs but the water stays cold, the usual causes are scale or corrosion in the heat exchanger, a bypass valve set wrong, or a heater that is too small for the pool. A heat pump on a cold day can also run without keeping up. Heat pumps slow down or stop on very cold days, so a slow heat pump in a cold snap is not always broken.

What we check when a heat pump stops heating

Heat pumps run on power, not gas, and pull heat from the air. When one stops heating we check the fan, the compressor, the sensors, and the airflow around the unit. Heater problems are sometimes pump, filter, or valve problems. We diagnose the whole equipment pad, not only the heater, so the fix lasts.

Keep leaves and debris clear of the unit so air can move, and keep the pump running with a clean filter so water flows through it.

What happens on the visit

  1. You call 817-339-6770 and describe what the heat pump is doing.
  2. We diagnose on site and show you what we found.
  3. You get the price before any work starts.
  4. We can often fix it same day or next day when parts and schedule allow.

Heat pump or gas heater: what's the difference?

Heat pumps run on power, not gas, and pull heat from the air. We repair and replace gas and propane pool heaters. Gas line work, including new runs and changes to existing lines, is done by our licensed gas contractor, with permits where required. For gas heater problems, see pool heater and heat pump repair.

Should you repair or replace a pool heat pump?

Replacement makes sense when the heat exchanger has failed or repairs keep stacking up. If a repair will do the job, we fix the equipment you have. When something needs replacing, we usually recommend Jandy, since new Jandy equipment we install carries a 3-year warranty. The choice is always yours, though. If you'd rather stay with your current brand, we'll supply and install that instead. More on pool heater and heat pump repair.

Which heat pump brands do you work on?

We service and repair all pool equipment brands, including Jandy, Pentair, and Hayward. That includes Raypak.
