How much does pool salt system repair cost?

It depends on what failed: the cell, the power center, a sensor, or just low salt. Salt system repairs are priced after diagnosis. Service calls start at $85, plus applicable tax. The service call fee goes toward the labor for your repair. You only pay the service call if you decide not to go ahead with the repair. Salt cell cleaning: $125 as a standalone visit, acid included, plus applicable tax, or $75 when added during a service or repair visit, plus applicable tax. Starting rates exclude tax and parts. Final pricing depends on the equipment, parts, and brand. See our rates on the pool repairs page. Lucent Pools is insured. Call 817-339-6770.

Starting rates as of October 2026.

Salt cell not producing chlorine

Low chlorine with salt in the water usually means a scaled cell, a worn-out cell, a weak power center, or a system set too low or running too few hours. We test cell output and the power center first, fix what failed, and replace the cell only when it's worn out.

Salt system says low salt (but the salt is fine)

A low-salt reading when the water tests fine often points to a scaled or worn cell, a bad salt sensor, or cold water, since many systems read low and slow down when the water is cold. We test the salt level ourselves, then check the cell and sensor. If the salt really is low, the fix is adding salt, not a new cell.

No flow light or flow error

A no-flow light means the system doesn't sense water moving, so it shuts off chlorine production to protect the cell. Common causes: a dirty filter, a pump that isn't priming or is running too slow, a closed valve, or a failed flow switch. We check the flow path first, then the switch.

Inspect cell or check cell light

An inspect-cell or check-cell light usually means scale on the cell plates or a cell near the end of its life. DFW's hard water speeds up scale. We inspect the plates, clean the cell when scale is the problem, and test output before recommending a new cell.

Power center or control board not working

A blank display, error codes, or a cell that gets no power can mean a failed power center board, a blown fuse, a loose cell cord, or a control system that isn't sending the signal. We test the power center and cell cord on your existing circuits and repair or replace what failed.

Repair or replace the salt cell?

Repair first when the cell can be cleaned, or the flow switch, sensor, cord, or power center can be fixed on a sound system. Replace the cell when it's worn out and output can't be restored. When a salt system needs replacing, we usually recommend Jandy, since new Jandy equipment we install carries a 3-year warranty. The choice is yours, and we'll install your current brand if you prefer. A replacement cell has to match the system, so we confirm the model before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my salt cell not producing chlorine?

Most often the cell is scaled, worn out, or set too low, or the power center isn't sending enough power. Low flow and cold water can also stop production. We test the cell and power center, fix what failed, and replace the cell only when needed. Call 817-339-6770.

Why does my salt system say low salt when the salt level is fine?

A scaled or worn cell, a bad salt sensor, or cold water can all cause a false low-salt reading. We test the water's salt level ourselves, then check the cell and sensor. If the salt really is low, adding salt fixes it. Call 817-339-6770.

What does the no-flow light on my salt system mean?

The system doesn't sense water moving, so it stops making chlorine to protect the cell. Check that the pump is running and the filter isn't clogged. If it still shows no flow, the flow switch or a valve may have failed. Call 817-339-6770.

Can you clean my salt cell instead of replacing it?

Often, yes. Scale on the plates is a common reason a cell stops working, and cleaning it can bring output back. We test the cell after cleaning. If output still can't be restored, the cell is worn out and needs replacing. Call 817-339-6770.

Do you repair and replace Jandy, Pentair, and Hayward salt systems?

Yes. We repair all major brands, including Jandy, Pentair, and Hayward. If a repair will do the job, we fix the equipment you have. When something needs replacing, we usually recommend Jandy. As a Jandy ProEdge builder and dealer and an Authorized Jandy ProEdge Warranty Station, we can give you a 3-year warranty on new Jandy equipment. The choice is always yours, though. If you'd rather stay with your current brand, we'll supply and install that instead.

What is covered under the repair warranty?

Repair workmanship is covered for 90 days. Parts carry their manufacturer's warranty, and new Jandy equipment we install carries a 3-year warranty through our Jandy ProEdge status.
